Carl Jung referred to “the shadow” as “that which I do not wish to be.” That is, those aspects of ourselves that are unacceptable, whether to ourselves, our family or society.

We repress those disowned parts or project them onto other people.

But hiding important characteristics of ourselves in the deep shadow realm of our subconscious doesn’t mean we are free from their influence, which comes out in sneaky ways. Instead, to live a truly authentic life, we have to be brave enough to welcome ALL of ourselves, not just “the good” parts.

Together, we’ll explore the nature of the shadow, how shining a light on it leads to soul integration, and why that is a necessary step to becoming fully ourselves.

But most importantly, you will learn how to integrate tarot cards into shadow work (an excellent combination!)

So please bring your favorite deck and a notebook, as well as your spirit of curiosity and adventure, as this will be an experiential and interactive training.

Exploring the shadow side is essential for our therapy clients because it involves bringing unconscious, often repressed parts of themselves into awareness.

These shadow aspects, which can include unacknowledged emotions, desires, or beliefs, often manifest in behaviors or patterns that hinder personal growth and wellbeing.

By recognizing and integrating these hidden parts, clients can understand their triggers and underlying motivations, reducing inner conflict and self-sabotage. This process fosters greater self-compassion, acceptance, and a fuller sense of identity.

Ultimately, working with the shadow allows for deeper healing as clients transform negative self-perceptions and unresolved emotional wounds into sources of strength and personal insight. Using tarot cards in shadow work only deepens the experience for our clients who are open to such a therapeutic tool.
