Quietude

Sitting on a two-acre piece of land in the town of Black Mountain, this lodge is the centerpiece of the retreat center. Yet each of its eight cabins is also a micro-oasis.

And then there is the bubbling Flat Creek, which runs along the rear of the property. Along with a gazebo, picnic tables, and footpaths.

Quietude presents the perfect opportunity to actively explore nature or simply rest while taking in the peaceful surroundings.

Black Mountain

In 2017 readers at Trip Advisor bestowed Black Mountain with the title of “America’s Prettiest Small Town.”

It’s easy to see why: The scenery is stunning and the town itself is awash in arts, crafts, music and delicious food.

I can’t make any guarantees, of course.

But let’s just say that typically…normally…most years - this is what you can expect in western North Carolina during the month of October.

It is located about forty minutes by car from the Asheville Airport, and about twenty minutes from downtown Asheville itself.

If you’re traveling along I-40, it’s not far off the interstate :)
